THE FRIENDS OF THE COW
PART 1
many years ago the cow lives in the forest with the others wild animals and she was a very great friend of the lioness both the cow and the lioness had a son and because the mother were son friendly the children were friends, too. they generally played together all the day. the cow child was very good. he always did what his mother told him to do. and he was very clean and careful. the lioness child was just the opposite. he never listened to his mother orders.
he never obeyed her. he was always very naughty, very dirty and very careless. one day the lioness had to go on a journey. she couldnot take her child with her because he couldnot walk quickly, so she asked the cow to take care of him until she came back. bthe cow told the two children to play to gether quietly. near their home in the forest there was a big well with a lot of water in it. the mothers often told their children that they must never plsy near this well.

said if you play near trhe well you willl
make the water dirty, and we cant drink dirty water. the lioness said , if you
play near the well you "II fall in to the water and then you will die. we
shant be able to help you, there such a
lot of water.
the title cow was very careful. he listened to his mother and he didnt go
near the well. but the little lion didnt listen. he said, mother i ,must go there, so ishall go there.
the little cow call to him and said, dont stay there. youb know our mothers
said that we must not . the little lion said, idont care whatr my mother said,
or yours eigher. and he began to run round
the well quite near to the water.
the cows child called out, you will fall in, and he ran
after the young lio nb to try to stop him . he caught the lionb child
and tried to pull him away from the well
, but the lion child pullled, too, and bit the little cows hand. the little cow
couldnot hold him any longer. he let go
and the little lion gell into the well and went down into the water. the little cow called him, but he
lay there in the water quite still and dead. then the little cow was afraid.
